2013 NAUW royalty crowned, new court named

The National Association of University Women - Rayne Branch (NAUW) held their 2013 annual Royalty Pageant on Sunday, May 19, at 5 p.m. at the Green Room of the Rayne Civic Center Complex.

The group’s theme was “Women Moving Forward with Purpose and Pride,” according to President, Dianne Granger.

The pageant promotes community service and scholarship. This year’s pageant theme was “Western.”

Children in the pageant competed not only for the title of queen or king, but also for talent and modeling awards.

Contestants opened the pageant with a dance to “Old Mac Donald” and “Father Abraham.” The finale included issuances of awards.

Thanks were expressed to the 2012 honorees, Queen Asiahlyn Jolivette and King Jordan Gabriel, who crowned the 2013 royalty.

Crowned the 2013 queen was Bremilin Minix, who was escorted by Jordan Gabriel.

The 2013 king is Noah Peter, along with his escort, Zhoe Evans.

First Princess was Azaryah Price. Her escort was Jon’ Trevious Johnson.

Named 2nd Princess was Ryan Robinson, along with escort Kayden White.

NAUW would like to thank all who support Rayne youth and NAUW activities. Pageant chairman was Katie Jolivette, assisted by co-chairman Bernadette Robinson, and NAUW members.
