By Lisa Soileaux

The Rayne High Lady Wolves redeemed themselves Friday night, avenging their only district loss with a commanding 62-41 win over Northwest.

"Our girls played like I knew they could," stated Rayne High Head Coach Chester Randall on the important win. "We are playing like we need to at this point of the season with the playoffs just ahead of us."

During Friday's win, the Lady Wolves broke out the offensive ammunition early, claiming a 12-0 lead before Northwest was able to break the Rayne press for a bucket at the 3-minute mark.

"Both our offense and defense came through for us tonight," noted Randall on the big win. "Our girls showed themselves that they can play their best when pushed by their opponents."

In Friday's win, the Lady Wolves were led by Tori Carriere and Charlesha Dugas with 16 and 10 points, respectively. Also donating for the win were Courtlyn Evans and Naosha Leopaul with eight points each, followed by Zierra Gabrielle and Tristan Mouton each with six.

With Friday's win, the Lady Wolves headed to the neutral site of Eunice High School Monday where they once again met Northwest for a tie-breaker as both teams finished district at 7-1.

Monday's game was almost a deja vu as the final score finished with an identical 62-41 win for the Lady Wolves once again. With Monday's win, the Lady Wolves (25-6) will enter post season as "top dogs" from District 5-3A. Brackets will be released today with the Lady Wolves planning to take to the court Monday from all probability.
