Abbevillenow.com, the hits keep on coming
It has been a few months since the roll-out of the Abbeville Meridional’s website www.abbevillenow.com, but the number of readers climbs each week and with the continual upgrades from the home office in Lafayette under the direction of Web Guru Tom Coleman, it gets better every day.
The first week for the site just over 700 visitors came to read the online material. Last week, according to the analytic software used to rate the online presence, 2,199 visits were recorded, with more than 1,500 unique visitors.
The next step for the site is to institute a search tool that will scan all archived material by word.
Currently the site has a section for comments that we would like to see used more often, “Managing Editor Rachel Cherry said. “We know people have an opinion out there and we would enjoy hearing what they have to say.”
The largest readership comes from outside the parish, specifically Lafayette.
The goal of the online presence is to increase awareness of the news, issues, people and events in the parish as well as serve as a tool for the advertisers in the area.
