Abshires celebrate 60th wedding anniversary in Egan
EGAN - Mason Joseph Abshire Sr. and Wava Marie Hebert celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past week with family and friends. Their anniversary date was Thursday, December 30, 2010. They were visited by their daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Don Guidry of Buna, Texas; their son and daughter-in-law, James and Tammy Abshire, of Beaumont, Texas; their daughter, Melba Potter, granddaughter, Angie and great granddaughter, Emily, all of Orange, Texas. They received a best wishes call from their son and daughter-in-law, Mason (Bobby) and Nichole Abshire Jr. of Alexandria. They also received a best wishes call from their son-in-law Michael Potter of Orange, Texas. After a wonderful meal, they were surprised with a one tier cake with a double heart centerpiece. The groom surprised his precious bride with a beautiful golden wedding band. Other gifts received was money, a Sterling Silver sixtieth picture frame, a crystal dove cross and a sixtieth shelf bell. Mason and Wava were married in St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Egan. They moved to Texas in the early 1950s. He worked for Bethlehem Steel Shipyard and then DuPont in Orange, Texas. Upon retiring they moved to Toledo Bend Lake in Hemphill, Texas. They have four children, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
