Acadia Parish Career EXPO slated for Feb. 7
CROWLEY - The Acadia Parish Career Connections EXPO is presented annually by the Acadia Parish School Board, the cities of Crowley and Rayne, and the Crowley Chamber of Commerce. Scheduled for Tuesday, February 7, 2012, this one-day trade show style event creates a unique opportunity for local businesses and community leaders to interact with tenth and twelfth grade students from across Acadia Parish. By talking with the business community, students are able to explore a variety of career options and become more informed of the day-to-day tasks involved in many jobs. By becoming a participant in the Career EXPO, businesses will be able to reinforce to the students the importance of furthering their education and the realities that exist within the workforce, while encouraging students to plan for their future. This is a rare opportunity for students to interact with business leaders in the community.
The Expo will also feature a Reality Store designed to make students aware of the relationship between their educational and career choices and their standard of living. Exhibit areas will feature student selections for homes, transportation and daily living needs. The cost of food, financing, utilities, medical care, childcare, and insurance are explored and explained. This portion of the Expo requires volunteer manpower, so please consider joining us for part of the day.
Please make plans to join us on February 7, 2012 so that you can inspire our young people as they prepare to make choices about their education, career, and future. As a business participant in the Expo, we would like for people to provide an interactive exhibit that will encourage student and professional interaction and give students insight into their possible career choice. Also, please include a list of job positions at your business and the necessary qualifications.
