Acadia Parish Junior Livestock Show kicks off

By Katherine Miller

CROWLEY – The annual Acadia Parish Junior Livestock Show and sale began Wednesday afternoon as 4-H and FFA members prepared their animals for competition.

Events began shortly after 3 p.m. with the weighing in of sheep, cattle and goats.

Cooper Wingate, who was busily sheering his two sheep in preparation for competition said, “This is my second year showing sheep. I have high hopes this year.”

Tobie Olivier and Taylor Broach were also full of excitement and hope as they prepared their sheep for competition.

Today’s events at the livestock show will begin with the lamb, goat and cattle shows, followed by the parish wide livestock judging contest. The parish show will last through this Saturday, January 24, with the final sales taking place at 1 p.m.
