Acadia Parish Roundup: CHS Ladies, Lady Pios rack up league victories
IOWA – The Crowley Ladies broke loose for six runs in the third inning and cruised past Iowa, 11-0, Wednesday in a District 4-3A contest at the Lady Yellow Jackets’ home park.
Crowley improved to 19-6 on the season and 4-2 in league play with the victory.
Heather Trahan led the Ladies offensively with a 3-for-4 performance that included a pair of run-scoring triples. Skylor Huval followed with two hits, both doubles, and three RBI and Olivia Boullion had a single, a triple and one RBI. Bailee Villejoin also had two hits and one RBI.
Also contributing in the victory were Katelyn Killmer and Kristen Bonin with one hit and one RBI each while Maddie LeBouef rounded out the offense with a single.
Boullion also picked up the victory in the circle after giving up no runs on four hits. She struck out one in five innings.
Lady Pios blank Jennings
CROWLEY – The Notre Dame Lady Pios scored eight runs in the first three innings and ran their win streak to 11 games with a dominating 11-0 victory over Jennings Wednesday at Hensgens Park.
The Lady Pios (20-5, 6-0) were led by Alexa Thibodeaux with two hits and three RBI. Elise LeBeouf also had two hits and drove in one run.
Mollie Stelly drove in a pair of runs with a single, Brittney Nolan had an RBI single, Taylor Boulet added a triple and Taylor Satchell had one hit. Allie Daigle also logged an RBI in the victory.
Stelly picked up the victory in the circle. She limited Jennings to just two hits and struck out 12 in five innings.
Pios upend Jennings
CROWLEY – The Notre Dame Pioneers remained perfect in District 4-3A play Wednesday evening with a 5-1 victory over the Jennings Bulldogs at Miller Stadium.
The Pios (10-11, 4-0) tied the game at 1-1 in the second inning and scored four unanswered runs in the final five frames to earn the victory.
Gavin Bourgeois picked up the victory on the mound after limiting Jennings to one run on two hits and three walks. He struck out seven in 5 2/3 innings.
Alex Holston pitched the final 1 1/3 innings without surrendering a hit or a run.
Joe Faulk paced the Pios’ offensive attack with two hits, including a double and an RBI.
He was followed by Sam Veillon with a double and two RBI while Dillan Gilbert and Alex Rozas each had one hit. Hogan Guidry also drove in a run with a bases loaded suicide squeeze in the sixth inning.
Jennings’ Joey Scogin and Woody Bougard each had one hit and Kaleb Chaisson logged the Bulldogs’ lone RBI.
