Acadia Players hosting auditions
CROWLEY – The Acadia Players are pleased to announce the upcoming auditions for their children’s theater production of “Bridge to Terabithia.”
This is a wonderful opportunity for young people to get involved in the theater. Rehearsals have been scheduled so as not to conflict with school, sports or church activities.
The musical play is being directed by P.E. Ronkartz with Jessica Curiel as music director. Both directors are teachers in the Acadia Parish gifted and talented programs.
Children ages 10 to 18 are encouraged to audition for the three major singing roles and nine minor singing roles. Youth ages 13 to 18 are encouraged to sign up as stage, costume and props crews. Auditions will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on May 28 and 29 at the historic Rice Theater on Parkerson Avenue in Crowley. Youth interested in the major singing roles of Jess Aarons, Leslie Burke and Ms Edmunds should be prepared to sing a piece of their choice. Casting will be completed and notification made by June 1. Those who are cast will be able to pick up their scripts and music from the Crowley Flower Shop beginning June 1. Rehearsals will be at the Rice Theater from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. beginning on Sunday July 6 and will be held every Sunday through the last week in September when performances will be held.
These performances will be September 25 through September 28, with teacher guides available the last week of August. Teacher guides will include curriculum links and GLE’s as well as activities and resource links. These guides will be made available to any teacher who wishes to bring their classes to one of the school day performances.
School performances will be on Thursday, September 25 and Friday, September 26. Performances for the general public will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 26; at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 27; and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 28.
