Acadia schools making changes

The Acadia Parish School Board will soon begin to distribute the H1N1 vaccine to students in the parish. The decision follows a survey of parents in the parish that indicates that they favor such a plan.
While the vaccine locations have yet to be determined, a spokesperson with the school board stated that Crowley, Rayne, Church Point, Iota and Midland will each have a place where the vaccine can be distributed.
“Our survey was sent out to all the parents of school children in Acadia Parish,” said the spokesperson who called the Post Signal at the request of Acadia Parish School Superintendent John E. Bourque. “Of those who responded 1,800 voted favorably.”
The H1N1 virus has caused much fear in the Acadiana area and throughout the country. Several area schools were shutdown earlier in the year due to cases of the illness.
