Acadia Teachers Honored

The 2010-2011 Acadia Parish Teacher of the Year Luncheon was held Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café in Rayne when Teachers of the Year from throughout the parish were honored.

Honorees, principals and special guests were welcomed by Superintendent Johnny E. Bourque, Acadia Parish Schools.

Mistress of ceremonies was Margaret Jones, Executive Director of Cirriculum, Acadia Parish School Board.

Providing entertainment for the program were musical students of Acadia Parish under the direction of Banks Pruitt.

Remarks were heard from the Teachers of the Year in their grade category, including Carla Lambousy of Crowley Kindergarten, Michael Johnson of Armstrong Middle School, and Donna Meaux of Crowley High School.

Acadia Parish Teachers of the Year honored were:

Elementary: Dorothy Guidry of Branch Elementary, Chasidy Benoit of Central Rayne Kindergarten, Catherine Nation of Church Point Elementary, Carla Lambousy of Crowley Kindergarten, Loretta Johson of Estherwood, Tina Esthay of Evangeline Elementary, Cassie Ronkartz of Iota Elementary, Kristin Descant of Martin Petitjean Elementary, Mary Gossen of Mire Elementary, Cheryl Myers of Morse Elementary, Catherine Guidry of North Crowley Elementary, Amanda Cart of Richard Elementary, Jenna Robinson of Ross Elementary, Kelley Hunt of South Crowley Elementary, and Jordan Harson of South Rayne Elementary.

Middle School: Michael Johnson of Armstrong Middle, Laura Olivier of Branch Elementary, Shelley Rhodes of Church Point Middle, Dwanetta Fontenot of Crowley Middle, Kelly Leonards of Egan Elementary, Randi Sattler of Iota Middle, Tyler Leger of Mermentau Elementary, and Angel Guidry of Richard Elementary.

High School: Donna Meaux of Crowley High, Hildred Thomas of Iota High, Matthew Guidry of Midland High, Cassie Ancelet of Rayne, and Timothy Jones of Church Point High.
