Acadian Memorial Festival 2009

LET THERE BE COMEAUXS...

And Dugas, Richards and Thibodeauxs. A crowd watches descendants of the Acadians reenact an 18th century landing on the shore of Bayou Teche as it might have happened at that very sport between 1764 and 1788. This year, four families among the many represented by the 3,000 or so names on the wall at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville were honored specifically during Saturday’s festival. There was also music, food, arts and crafts and historical lectures. (Staff Photo by Ken Grissom).
