Alderman Whiting arrested in dispute
CROWLEY – A Crowley City Councilman was arrested Monday morning on charges of violation of a restraining order, resisting arrest and simple battery of a police officer.
Alderman Todd Whiting was taken into custody by Acadia Parish Sheriff’s officials after the altercation. He was released shortly afterward.
The incident was described by officials as a civil matter that got out of hand.
When contacted, Whiting said “I’m going through a divorce and a situation arose where I was concerned with my children’s safety. I was attempting to secure their safety at the time of the incident.”
Whiting has been serving on the city council for two years. He defeated incumbent Dr. James Buatt in 2006.
