CROWLEY – Despite the cold, overcast weather conditions this past weekend, a large crowd gathered Saturday for the conluding auction of the 2009 Acadia Parish Junior Livestock show, which is held annually at the LSU Ag Center arena in Crowley.

Acadia parish 4-H and FHA members spent many months preparing for this auction, and seemed to be in good spirits as the show progressed.

The auction began with the sale of the Grand Champion animals, the first division, which was a steer raised by Dylan Hebert and sold for $5100 to Rusty Freeland of First National Farms.

During the second division of the contest, Wyatt Manuel sold his Grand Champion Hog to Ms. Norma Weekley of LaGrange Food Mart for $2,300.

The third animal up for bid was the Grand Champion sheep, which was raised by Myles Deshotel and sold to Martin Petitjean of Petitjean Farms for $1,000.

Overall, the 2009 livestock junior livestock show bragged of more than 130 animals that were shown throughout the four days prior.

Many of the exhibitors, which were from different schools thoroughout the parish, were very pleased with the experience they were provided through this annual feat.
