Alma Jean "Baby" Gautreaux Leger

LAKE CHARLES – Alma Jean “Baby” Gautreaux Leger, 77, of Lake Charles died Saturday, June 20, 2009 in a healthcare facility.

Mrs. Leger was born, raised and educated in Crowley. She was a graduate of Crowley High School. She lived most of her adult life in Lake Charles. She enjoyed gatherings of family and friends and fishing with her husband.

Mrs. Leger was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whom will be most remembered for her cooking and hospitality.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Gerald Wayne Leger and wife Penny of Ragely, Ben Allen Leger and wife Felicia of Welsh and Carl John Leger and wife Marlene of Grand Lake; two daughters, Judy Ann Cloud and husband Rock of Moss Bluff and Alice Jean Fontenot of Lake Charles; thirteen grandchildren; four great- grandchildren and two sisters, Gracie Schexneider and Marjorie Villejoin, both of Crowley.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, Benoit Leger; her parents, Felician and Alice Burris Gautreaux and four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Monday took place from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m.. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the Doctor’s and Staff of Golden Age of Welsh and Odyssey Hospice for their excellence in care and compassion.
