Alpha Delta sorority holds meetings
Members of the Alpha Delta chapter met at the home of Joanie Fontenot for its February 3, meeting. Two members attended the March 20, trip to St. Francisville sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.
Becky Buller is proceeding with the chapter service project Operation Smile and presented information at the following meeting. Members enjoyed attending the cultural program planned by Charlotte Fontenot and Linda Buller, which was a performance by Marcia Ball and her Jazz Band at the Grand Opera House in Crowley January 31. The trip was very worthwhile just in visiting the Opera House and learning its history.
The spring social committee members, Linda Buller, Diana Reed, Sherrell LeBoeuf and Janella Soileau, together with eight other members, enjoyed their outing to Houston, Texas, March 6-8.
Hostess Joanie Fontenot presented a program on how to have a youthful appearance.
Mary Alice Fontenot hosted the March 3, meeting. Members were reminded by a message from the Magnolia Garden Club members to help keep the city “clean and green” during the Cleanest City Contest. Congratulations to the City of Ville Platte for receiving third place. The sorority would like to extend a thank you to the members of the Magnolia Garden Club for their efforts, as well as the citizens who helped with the project.
Committee members Diana Reed and Linda Buller are busy collecting items from Sherrell LeBoeuf and Joanie Fontenot and planning the menu for the sorority’s meal to be auctioned off at the annual foundation project entitled “An Evening in the Orient, ” which will be held April 16.
A cultural evening was planned by Rose Frey in Lafayette with dinner at Bailey’s Restaurant, followed by attendance at the highly-rated movie showing of “Slumdog Millionaire” March 17.
The election of new officers will be held at the next meeting. The hostess presented information on hints for the use of coffee filters.
