Andrew "Andy" Simar, Jr.
CROWLEY – Funeral Services for Andrew “Andy” Simar, Jr., 68, of Crowley will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley. Deacon Dan Bess will serve as the celebrant for the services. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
The family is requesting the visitation to be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel of Crowley, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
Mr. Andrew passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at his home in Crowley at 5:00 p.m.
A native of Crowley, Mr. Andy served our country in the United States Army for over 20 years. During his service he served two tours in the Viet Nam war. While in the military Andy was an unattended underground Sensor instructor and an electronic instrument repairman and instructor.
Mr. Andrew enjoyed spending time with his family and helping anyone that was in need. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his wife for forty eight years, Mrs. Laury Porter Simar of Crowley; several nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Porter of Abilene, TX and Mr. and Mrs. Rick E. Porter of Phoenix, AZ.
Preceding Mr. Andrew in death were his son, Charles Andrew Simar; his parents, Andrew and Lillian Simar, Sr.; two sisters, Wava Young and Cleve “Peanut” Ellen Simar; two brothers, Charles William and Louis James Simar; two brothers-in-law, Kerry and Preston Porter.
