Andrew Guidry, Jr.
Mire—A Mass of Christian Burial for Andrew Guidry, Jr., 80, of Mire will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire. Father Don Pelous will serve as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Assumption Catholic Mausoleum, Mire.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M., with a rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. in the funeral home.
Mr. Guidry passed away on Monday, August 20, 2012 in a Lafayette hospital.
A long time resident of Mire, Mr. Guidry was retired from Lafayette Utility Service, where he worked as a lineman for many years. He was an accomplished fiddle player, having played with Aldus Mouton and many other Cajun musicians and bands.
Survivors include his wife, Winnie Cormier Guidry of Mire; son, Rickey A. Guidry and wife, Mary Constantine Guidry of Church Point; daughter, Doris Leger of Lafayette; sisters, Denora Lormand and husband, Roy of Parks, and Myrna Hancock and husband, David of Corpus Christi, TX; brothers, Rodney Guidry and wife, Jeanette of St. Martinville, Russell Guidry and wife, Flo of Lafayette, and Gleen Guidry and wife, Roxanne of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Jonathon Guidry and wife, Alicia of Mire, Lindsay Higginbotham and husband, Brad of Church Point, and Pam Cheramie and husband, Jerrod of Lafayette; great-grandchildren, Landon, Konner, Izabella, Zane, Zayden, Karessa, Ariel, Emily, and Jacob; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Preceding Mr. Guidry in death were his parents, Andrew Guidry, Sr. and Della Vincent Guidry; and a grandson, Dwayne Leger.
