CROWLEY – Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Andrew “Red” Sullivan Huesers, 78, who died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Camelot Place in Crowley.
Fr. Michael J. Schatzle, a family friend, will be officiating the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Monday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to the time of service. A rosary will be recited on Monday at 6 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Andrew was born in Crowley to the late Bernard and Cecelia Huesers. He was employed by Cleco and Slemco before retiring from Slemco in 1993 as a Substation Specialist. After his retirement he worked for the Acadia Parish School Board in the electrical department. He served the Crowley Recreation Department as a coach for little league and was a certified umpire. Red was a past president of the Redemptorist Catholic School Board. He also coached and refereed basketball at Redemptorist Grade School. Red was a man of many talents and accomplishments in his life. He adored his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Red enjoyed a well-cooked meal.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jacqueline Miciotto Huesers; his daughters, Debbie Beggs and her husband Dan; and Linda Guidry and her husband Ray; his sons, Ben Huesers and his wife Alicia; Chuck Huesers and his wife Chasity, all of Crowley; his nine grandchildren, Heidi Huesers Ellender, Adrienne Huesers, Amanda Huesers Abshire, Scott Beggs, Cody Huesers, Ray Guidry II, Brittany Huesers, Charles Huesers, Jr. and Madalyn Huesers. Big Paw Paw’s three great-grandchildren are Brian and Benjamin Ellender and Madison Beggs. He also has one on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret H. Potier and his brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Ruby Huesers; his goddaughter, Bonnie Barousse and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Cecelia Regan Huesers, his son, Mark Huesers, and his brothers, Bernard Huesers, Eugene Huesers, Floyd Huesers, James Huesers and JD Huesers and his godson, Buddy Huesers.
Pallbearers will be Scott Beggs, Cody Huesers, Ray Guidry II, Charles Huesers, Jr. Brian “BJ” Ellender, Jr. and Jeremy Abshire.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the Crowley Recreation Department and Redemptorist Catholic Booster Club in his name.
