A&O presents 2008 Beautillion
The A & O 21st Century Club, Inc. staged its 12th Annual Beautillion on Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Rayne Civic Center.
During the evening’s festivities, the 2007 honoree, Jordan Wade, crowned his successor, King Quincy Rochester, son of Gwendolyn and Charles Rochester. His escort for the special event was Destiny Francis.
Beaus, along with their escorts were Trevons Charles and Rachelene Charles, Timothy Mayfield and Myashia Hollier.
Honorees and guests were welcomed by Tim Mayfield, who delivered the welcome address, followed by the invocation by Deacon Nolton Senegal.
Serving as mistress of ceremonies was Katie Jolivette, who was introduced by Brian Mouton, ball chairman.
The community address was presented by Rayne Councilwoman Ann Washington, afterwhich, Mouton introduced a number of community leaders and organizations, including Elaine Sias, Nolton Senegal, Hilda Wiltz, Katie Jolivette, Thomas Sonnier, Ann Washington, Brian Mouton, Edra Broussard, Lucius Handy, Deborah Smith, Rose Mary Mouton and Dorothy Cole.
A minuet choreographed by Edra Broussard and Ella Handy, presented the Beaus, along with last year’s king who delivered his farewell. Souvenirs was presented by Elton Landry and the toast was led by Hilda Wiltz.
The presentation was completed with the Grand Waltz participated by the Beaus and their mothers.
The evening was completed with dancing as music was provided by “DJ Live” of the Lake Charles area.
A & O Club officers are president Elton Landry, 1st vice presdient Jessie White, 2nd vice presdient and Ball chairman Brian Mouton, secretary Phil Woods, treasurer Felton Charles, assistant treasurer William Boards, Sgt.-at-arms Melvin Lawrence, reporter Edward Senegal, and chaplain George Jackson.
