APSO arrests man for failure to register as sex offender
EUNICE - Authorities in Acadia Parish have arrested 43-year-old Joseph Kevin LeJeune of Rue Francois, Eunice for failure to register as a sex offender.
According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, Investigators learned that in July of 1996 LeJeune was charged with aggravated sexual assault in Texas. LeJeune was convicted by the 232nd Court in Austin, Harris County, Texas, and was placed on supervised probation until March of 2003 when he began unsupervised probation to expire in March 2011.
Melancon stated that as a convicted sex offender LeJeune must report or have contact with law enforcement for address verification in the parish where he resides and is employed. According to information received LeJeune returned to Louisiana many years ago and have never registered.
Following an investigation by the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted by Louisiana State Police, a warrant was issued for the arrest of LeJeune.
LeJeune was arrested at his home on Thursday evening and booked into the Acadia Parish Jail with bond set at $20,000 by District Judge Glenn Everett.
