APSO investigating Friday shooting
CROWLEY – An early Friday morning shooting at Meadows Apartment Complex in Crowley has claimed the life of a 30-year-old Crowley Man.
According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, the sheriff’s office received a 911 call at about 1:19 a.m. from an unknown subject that reported the shooting.
The victim was identified as Brian Keith LaFleur of West Sixth St. in Crowley.
As the investigation continued and after consulting with prosecutors from the district attorney’s office, the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for second degree murder was issued for Nathaniel Bates, 25, of West Fifth Street in Crowley.
Further information into the events leading up to the eventual fatal shooting have also been unearthed by investigators. According to investigators, the shooting was the result of an argument that began at the apartment complex. During the altercation, a second individual received a non-life threatening gunshot would to his leg. He was transported to American Legion Hospital where he was treated and released. The identity of the second victim has not been released.

The sheriff’s office added that the investigation into the shooting continues.
