Arceneaux rites to be held Monday

CROWLEY – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 7, 2009 at Saint Michael Catholic Church for Elton Adam Arceneaux, Jr., 76, who died August 31, 2009 in Brenham, Texas.

Msgr. Russell Harrington and Fr. Aaron Melancon will concelebrate the Mass and the Committal service at the Woodlawn Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The family request visitation be observed from 3 p.m. Sunday until 9 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Monday until service time.

Mr. Arceneaux was born April 22, 1933 in rural Rayne, La., to the late Sheriff Elton A. and Eunice (Chaisson) Arceneaux. He served his country during the Korean War as an air traffic controller in the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Arceneaux was a banker beginning his career at Rayne State Bank and the First National Bank of Crowley. Elton loved all sports, especially baseball. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling. A devoted bird watcher, he was familiar with various bird species and their habitats. He was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Perry Arceneaux of Brenham, TX; children Randal Arceneaux and wife Rachel of Baton Rouge, Charisse Webb of Crowley, Catherine Hetzel and husband Eric of Crowley, Anna Swartzendruber and husband Todd of Crowley, Greg T. Arceneaux of Rayne, Jonathan Adam Arceneaux of Houston, TX, Jami Brown and husband Worley of Round Rock, TX, Victoria Muraywed and husband Malek of Houston, TX; 21 grandchildren: Adam and Daniel Arceneaux, Travis and Elise Webb, Laura, Alyson, Elizabeth, Sarah and Beau Hetzel, Alex, Zachary and Logan Miller, Esther and Aaron Swartzendruber, Brittany Latiolais, Connor, Morgan and Hayley Brown, Isabella and Alexander Muraywed; great-grandchildren: Dillon Arceneaux and Joseph Daniel Arceneaux; brothers and sisters-in-law John W. and Linda P. Arceneaux and Gerard and Frankie Arceneaux, all of Rayne; sisters Mona Stutes, Barbara Rue, Elaine Leon, all of Rayne, and Debra and Don Grimmer of Breaux Bridge. He is also survived by his first wife, Elaine Chiasson Arceneaux of Crowley.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Elton and Eunice Arceneaux, and granddaughter, Caitlin Hetzel.
