Arvie gets off to a good start in square circle
By: LANCE REED
Evangeline Parish native Brandon Arvie is coming off of a series of good performances in the squared circle. He won his first fight in Lafayette at the Louisiana State Golden Gloves Championship. His second victory came at the Jr. Olympics in Shreveport.
The 16-year-old son of Brenda and Jerome Zackery are very proud of their son and really thank their friends and family for all of their support. Arvie has been pushed by head coach and gym owner Beau Williford and Deirdre Gogarty (Ex-featherweight champion from Ireland). Also helping him achieve his goals are Coach Chris Breckeen and trainer Ray Manuel.
Look for Breckeen to try and open a gym in Mamou in the future to try and keep children off of the street and push them towards receiving a good education. Look for that in the near future.
