Attakapas Study Club conduct meeting at Pruitt home
The Attakapas Study Club of Crowley met on Friday, February 9 at 2:30 p.m. at the home of Joanna Pruitt. There were nine
members present, including Ella Bertrand, Jackie Buescher, Jerrie Fontenot, Shirley Griffin, Jean Oubre, Gloria Pousson, Joanna Pruitt, Ethel Thibodeaux and Erma Breaux.
President Ethel Thibodeaux called the meeting to order, and parliamentarian Joanna Pruitt led the Club Collect and the Pledge of Allegiance. Jackie Buescher in the absence of Gerry Meche, secretary, called roll and read the minutes of the previous meeting, which were approved.
New member Erma Breaux, was then welcomed by President Thibodeaux, and Jean Oubre announced that she had contacted the library to buy a book to be donated to the library in member of Katharine Cowen. She suggested they obtain a book about cats.
Joanna Pruitt was in charge of the program. Since February is the month of two former presidents’ birthdays, the program was patriotic. Joanna read a reading called, “I am an American.” Jackie Buescher read a reading called “My Name is Old Glory”. Joanna gave a test about the Pledge of Allegiance,” then played twenty-five patriotic songs.
Hostesses Jerrie Fontenot and Shirley Griffin served delicious refreshments.
