Audrey Marie Hanks
GUEYDAN - A mass of Christian burial for Audrey Marie Hanks, 68, was held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Gueydan on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Father Jason Vidrine officiating. She was called to her Heavenly Father on Friday , February 12, 2010 from the Gueydan Memorial Guest House. Visitation was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home on Monday, February 15th from 2:30 p,m, until the time of service on Tuesday. A rosary was recited Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Hanks was laid to rest in the Hanks Cemetery.
Audrey Marie was born in Kaplan to the late Dudley and Laura Harrington Broussard in the spring of 1941. She was a seamstress and a religion teacher. Audrey was a member of the Ladies Altar Society of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was a very kind and loving person. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, and reading. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Leaving behind to cherish her memories is her beloved husband, John Irvin Hanks of Lyons Point; two sons, Jeff (Bridget) Hanks of Iota, and Neil (Bridget) Hanks of Rayne; four daughters, Karen (Donnie) LaBowe of Hathaway, Donna (Robert) Regan of Egan, Rhonda (Lance) Gauthier of Hessner, and Brandi (Bradley) Cormier of Morse; a brother, Laudres ‘LJ’ Broussard of Lyons Point; a sister, Bertha Leger of Iowa; and her 13 beautiful grandchildren and one on the way.
Preceded in death by her parents; and one grandson, Robert Dustin Regan.
Carrying Audrey to her eternal resting place will be Shaun LaBowe, Tyler Hanks, Patrick Leger, Jacob Leger, Joel Hanks, and Brady Hanks. Honorary pallbearers included Blake Hanks, Austin Regan, Francis Gauthier, Rhett Cormier, and Wyatt Cormier.
