BASE Mentoring to being 12th year
Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon will host opening ceremonies for his B.A.S.E. Mentoring Program on Wednesday, Oct. 6, from 5:45 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office Training Center located at 1037 Capitol Avenue, Crowley.
Melancon stated that approximately 125 students from six Acadia Parish High Schools have requested to join this year’s program. This will be the 12th year for BASE Mentoring that joins business professionals with these young students for career mentoring.
Free ACT workshop
Sheriff Melancon wants to remind all high school students that his office will sponsor a free ACT prep workshop of Saturday Oct. 9, at the Sheriff’s Office Training Center. The workshop is from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and is open to all interested high school students.
Interested students are asked to contact Maxine Trahan, BASE Mentoring Coordinator, at 788-8788 to reserve a seat.
Students are asked to bring paper, pencil and a calculator. Lunch and snacks will be provided.
