BCE students conduct food drive

During a social studies lesson concerning the elements of being a good citizen, students in Ann Soileau’s third grade class at Bayou Chicot Elementary decided they wanted to be great citizens and organized a food drive at their school.

The students and faculty at the school collected non-perishable items for a week, December 8, through December 12. On December 6, the boxes of non-perishable items were collected and delivered to the Share and Care Center in Ville Platte, where the items will be distributed throughout the parish. On Friday, December 8, Gene Fontenot with Care and Share collected additional items from the school. While visiting the class, he spoke about the importance of giving back to the community and read Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” to the students.
