Beautification Board approve mural contract
The Rayne Beautification Board met in City Hall Wednesday evening in its effort to commission the city’s newest frog mural.
Prior to meeting with artist Tina Trahan of Lafayette, board members reviewed her preliminary pencil sketches.
Trahan’s concept showed Monsieur Jacques and his female companion “dancing in the Rayne” down a store-lined street.
Among the board’s recommendations to Trahan was naming the boulevard “Rue Orn Orn Ron”. Members also asked that the frogs’ faces be altered and that their feet be webbed and barefoot.
Trahan said she would incorporate the board’s recommendations and return with an updated sketch.
Following their discussion, the Board aproved a contract with Trahan for the mural.
The Board commissioned a four-panel wooden mural on the exterior wall of Fontenot Insurance’s building on East Texas Avenue.
No timetable was announced for the completed mural.
