Benefit concert proceeds distributed

The organizers of the KAJN Radio benefit concert with national recording artist Vicki Yohe held a special presentation Tuesday night, April 27, at 7 p.m. to distribute the proceeds from the event co-sponsored with the City of Rayne.
During the presentation held at Eaglenest Bible Ministry, 300 Fourth Street, the amount raised to aid victims of the March 5 tornado was announced and funds were distributed to a number of families affected.
Participating in the special program were Rev. Eddie Posey and his co-pastor Genisse Posey of Eagle Nest Bible Ministry, pastor of Church of God in Christ Rev Jonathan Williams, Abundant Life Assembly of God pastor Rev. Melvin Findley, and Rev. John E. Jordan, pastor of Faith Missionary Baptist Church.
Rev. Williams told the Tribune that just over $4,000 was raised during the KAJN Radio benefit concert.
He also reported that checks in the amount of $135.23 were distributed to Rayne households affected by the tornado.
Household items were also handed out along with a musical presentation and words of encouragement.
A total of 52 residents received assistance as a result of benefit held on March 31 in the Rayne Civic Center.
