Betty Menard Lawson
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Betty Menard Lawson, 77, who died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009 in Lafayette.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder will celebrate the Mass and the Committal services at the Woodlawn Mausoleum. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Visitation may be observed from 10:30 a.m. Friday until 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until service time.
Mrs. Betty was born March 3, 1932 in Crowley to the late Wallace and Elizabeth Soileau Menard. She was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by a son, John Wallace Lawson of Crowley; a daughter Deborah L. Richard and her husband, Gregory of Crowley; a brother Charles Menard of Crowley; five grandchildren Melissa Lawson, Eric Richard, Jamie Lawson, Anne Lawson and Amy Richard Theriot and her husband Jarid; six great-grandchildren Nicholas Riles, Hunter, Jake and Alec Richard, Aaron Lawson and Miguel Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William E. Lawson, a brother Rodney “Cooney” Menard and two infant children.
Pallbearers will be Eric Richard, Jarid Theriot, Gregory Richard, Nicholas Riles, Dr. Ron Menard, Ward Menard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Lawson and her six great grandchildren.
