Bicyclist killed on Highway 16

A man riding his bicycle was killed when an eighteen wheeler ran over him on Highway 16 across the road from McKnight Lane Tuesday, October 14 at approximately 2:36 p.m. The man was identified as 42-year-old Harold Glover of Amite.

According to Amite Police Chief Jerry Trabona Glover was traveling west on Highway 16 on the shoulder of the road and waved at a passes eighteen wheeler. Apparently when Glover went to wave he lost control of his handle-bars and fell in the road underneath the eighteen wheeler.

The truck, a Fleetwood Transportation Service trailer out of Diboll, Texas was driven by Ronald Hargrove of Bastrip, Louisiana. According to reports Glover was dead when Amite Police Officer Jason Pingo arrived on the scene. The truck was evidently going the appointed speed limit.
