Body found in Jeff Davis Parish

JENNINGS – For the sixth time in the past two years officials in Jeff Davis Parish have found the badly decomposed body of a female in a

rural area of the parish last week.

The body was found in a dry canal just east of LaCour Road last Friday by four hunters. The area is just south of La. 1126 and west of U.S. 90 in an area southeast of Jennings.

Authorities are now in the process of trying to identify the body with dental records. Also, an autopsy was ordered on the body through the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s office.

This death along with the other five deaths have not been solved, although officials have linked the first five women in the same crowd of friends.

In each case the bodies have been dumped on rural roads or canals and all of the women had intoxicants in their systems at the time of death. Two of the cases were ruled as homicides, although all of the incidents are believed to be murders.

During the course of time two arrests were made but in each of the cases officials were forced to release the suspects and drop the charges.
