Boggy Bayou youth royalty crowned last Saturday
On Saturday, March 7, the 2009 Boggy Bayou Pageant was held with six new queens and three new kings being crowned to represent the Boggy Bayou Festival.
The first category was that of Baby Miss Boggy Bayou. Winning the title for 2009 from a field of 16 contestants was Taylor Raye Charlie, the 15-month-old daughter of Treavor and Erica Charlie of Ville Platte. Placing as first runner-up in this division was Jaedyn Shae LaFleur, the 18-month-old daughter of Jade and Kasie LaFleur of Ville Platte. Second runner-up was Addie Brooke Heflin, the 11-month-old daughter of Leann and Brad Heflin of Pitkin.
The Baby Mr. Boggy Bayou crown for 2009 went to Cameron Matthew Braselman, the seven-and-a-half month old son of Matt and Tish Braselman of Lafayette. First runner-up to the baby king was Haydin Barzare, the five-month-old son of Kevin and Dara Barzare of Turkey Creek. Kylan Blaze Nacquin, the eight-month-old son of Ashley Gautreaux of Pine Prairie and Rustin Nacquin of Mamou, was named second runner-up.
Caitlyn Alyse Vidrine, the 21-month-old daughter of Kathryn and Bryan Vidrine of Ville Platte, was crowned Tiny Miss Boggy Bayou. Placing as first runner-up to the tiny queen was Kale Elizabeth Cloud, the 24-month-old daughter of Wade and Tiffani Cloud of Elizabeth. Second runner-up was Kayegan Campbell, the two-year-old daughter of Sidney and Jessika Campbell of Lake Charles.
Tiny Mr. Boggy Bayou for 2009 is Dean Chapelle, the son of Kevin and Debra Chapelle of Turkey Creek.
Briley Crochet, the four-year-old daughter of Jada and Kenny Crochet of Basile, captured the Little Miss Boggy Bayou crown. Placing as first runner-up to Crochet was Allison Clair Andrus, the three-year-old daughter of Savannah Andrus of St. Landry. Lola Grace Andrus, the four-year-old daughter of Heath and Kylie Andrus of Pine Prairie, was named second runner-up.
Colin Trae Ardoin, the four-year-old son of Mitch and Crystal Ardoin of Pine Prairie, was named Little Mr. Boggy Bayou for 2009. Placing as first runner-up to the little king was Aaron Jude Burke, the five-year-old son of Pamela and Robert Burke of Ville Platte.
The Petite Miss Boggy Bayou crown for 2009 was awarded to Kori Dianne Doyle, the six-year-old daughter of Kurt and Tori Doyle of Oakdale. Named as first runner-up to the petite queen was Marlee McDaniel, the seven-year-old daughter of Bryan and Dawnyna McDaniel of Turkey Creek. Hannah Lee Beene, the seven-year-old daughter of Becky Beene and Frankie Beene of Mamou, was named second runner-up in this division.
Sadie Nicole Buller, the 13-year-old daughter of Kelli and Lucas Buller of Ville Platte, won the Deb Miss Boggy Bayou title for 2009. Placing as first runner-up to the deb queen was Shelbi McClay Rials, the 10-year-old daughter of Clay and Regina Rials of Pine Prairie. Desiree’ Angelique Marcotte, the 11-year-old daughter of Brenda and Chris Marcotte of Bunkie, was named second runner-up in this division.
Capturing the Jr. Miss Boggy Bayou crown for 2009 was Courtney Dawn O’Connor, the 14-year-old daughter of Bridget and Neal O’Connor of Pine Prairie. Katie Marie Foreman, the 15-year-old daughter of John and Christina Foreman of St. Landry, was named first runner-up. Bonnie King, the 14-year-old daughter of Shelby King and Janine King of Lake Cove, was named second runner-up.
Judging the pageant this year were: Cemone Mire of Lafayette, Miss Louisiana Relay For Life Queen; Allyson Michelle Boudreaux of Lafayette, the reigning Erath Miss Fourth of July Queen; and Megan Clarisse Touchet of Crowley, the reigning Miss Lafayette Parish. Boggy Bayou Queen Fallan Higginbotham served as auditor for the pageant.
The new kings and queens will be presented at this year’s Boggy Bayou Festival Queen’s Pageant Saturday, April 4th at the fairgrounds.
Pageant director Bernice Ardoin says, “The Boggy Bayou Festival Board would like to thank all of the contestants, their parents, and sponsors for making this year’s pageant a great success. Without them, the pageant would not be possible.” All proceeds from the pageant go to Prairie Manor Nursing Home.
