Bond Commission approves $340.8 million for SW La.

BATON ROUGE – The State Bond Commission met August 19 and approved $340.8 million in funding for projects in southwest Louisiana, according to State Treasurer John Kennedy.

“We also discussed the status of the GO Zone program,” said Treasurer Kennedy. “There’s roughly $700 million left to be allocated in the program. We still encourage people to apply because we may end up in September or October with capacity we didn’t know we had.”

The Bond Commission approved:

Loans for local governments/political subdivisions:

- Acadia Parish Police Jury, $1.7 million

GO Zone bonds:

- Lake Charles Harbor and Terminal District (Lake Charles Cogeneration, L.L.C. Project), $310 million

Bonds for local governments/political subdivisions:

- Calcasieu Parish, City of Lake Charles, $16 million

- St. Landry Parish, Fire Protection District No. 1, $700,000

- St. Landry Parish, Town of Port Barre, $380,000

- Calcasieu Parish Public Trust Authority (Lake Charles City Court Project), $3 million (preliminary approval)

- Louisiana Public Facilities Authority (Episcopal School of Acadiana Project), $9 million (preliminary approval)

Statewide Bond Commission approvals for the Louisiana Public Facilities Authority include:

- $230.6 million in refunding bonds for Entergy

- $716.9 million in revenue and refunding bonds for the Student Loan Program

- $10 million for the Drinking Water Revolving Loan Fund Match Project
