Breaux Bridge’s FM Bank builds a new Rees branch
BREAUX BRIDGE – After 32 years on Rees Street here, the Farmers Merchants Bank & Trust Co. Park Plaza Branch is no more.
In its place is a new building styled like a large Acadian farmhouse.
The FM Bank board of director decided to evolve the bank’s Rees Street Park Plaza Branch to meet the needs of the bank customers in a growing community.
“We simply outgrew our facility, there,” said Jill Zimmerman, Farmers-Merchants Bank CFO.
“The increase in size to 3600 square feet has allowed us to meet the needs of our growing customer base,” she said. “This new facility boasts the most impressive efficiency technology offered in the banking industry today. In the short time it has been open it has already enhanced customer service. It provides a more secure environment for our employees as well.”
According to past depreciation schedules, the old structure was built in 1976 and its prime location makes it a significant investment for the bank.
Poche-Prouet and Associates are the Architects and Engineer designated for the project. Southwest Contractors are handling the new construction.
