Breaux Bridge Highway OWI checkpoint

BREAUX BRIDGE – Law enforcement officials from Troop I, Breaux Bridge Police Department, St. Martin Sheriff’s office and St. Martinville Police Department conducted a DWI checkpoint on La. 94 (Mills Hwy.) near mile post 8.5 within St. Martin Parish on Friday, Dec. 19.
NOTE: TROOPERS CHECK EVERYBODY COMING THROUGH AN ENFORCEMENT STOP, THE INNOCENT AS WELL AS THE GUILTY. PLEASE KEEP THAT IN MIND WHEN VIEWING THESE PHOTOS. DON'T JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS.
Approximately 550 vehicles were screened and a total of 21 citations were issued during the hours of 9 p.m. - 3 a.m.
Results from the checkpoint are as follows:
•9 DWI arrests.
•12 Intoxilzer tests.
•35 Field sobriety test.
•1 Possession of marijuana.
•1 Simple assault.
•2 Unlawful possession of alcohol by a minor.
•1 Failure to yield.
•1 Improper lane usage.
•1 Impeding the flow of traffic.
•1 Seat belt.
•2 Child restraint.
•1 Operator’s license.
Officers will be patrolling throughout the holidays. Don’t drink and drive – you will get caught.
