Brenda Sue Wilkins Yokum
CROWLEY – Funeral services will be held at Israelite Baptist Church in Crowley at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, for Brenda Sue Wilkins Yokum, 72, who died at the American Legion Hospital Wednesday, Aug. 21.
Rev. Ivan J. Lewis will officiate the services. Visitation will be held at the church from 8 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in West Crowley Cemetery.
Brenda was a loving and blessed mother and grandmother. Her heart was full of love, very strong and dedicated. Brenda was a nurse at Christian Villa Nursing Home for 27 years. She was a member of Zodiac Ladies Social Club and an Israelite Baptist Church deaconess. Brenda was also a majorette at H.C. Ross High School.
Brenda is survived by her spouse, Wesley Yokum Sr.; four sons, Wesley Yokum Jr. (Marilyn), Darrell Yokum Sr. (Debra), Jerry Yokum and Edward Yokum Sr. (Shirley); four daughters, Weslyn Y. Solomon (Daniel), Elizabeth M. Yokum, Suzette D. Yokum and Sherry A. Yokum; a special stepdaughter, Debra A. Carmouche; one brother, Jerry T. Wilkins (Shannon); four sisters, Ferrie M. W. Harmon, Sherrie W. Handy and Terry W. Corbins (Ben), all of Crowley, and Mary Alice Cortrell of Houston, Texas; 28 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Geary Wilkins Sr. and Susie T. Wilkins; two brothers, Geary Wilkins Jr. and Sidney Poret; two sisters, Barbara W. Brown and Jerrlyn V.R. Wilkins; granddaughter, Chyna Joy Young; and two great-grandsons, Brenton Bridges and Jeremiah Ducuilt.
Wilturner Funeral Home in Crowley is in charge of the arrangements.
