Bridal shower held for Heidi Bourgeois and David Hensgens
CHRUCH POINT - A bridal shower was held in honor of the engagement of Heidi Elizabeth Bourgeois of Church Point and David Braxton Hensgens of Crowley.
Early in the afternoon of August 27, Rosalind Robertson, Beverly LaGroue, Kathy Hundley, Charlotte Leonards and Elizabeth Gielen, maternal aunts of the groom, hosted the shower at the Gielen home.
The bride-to be is the daughter of Marty and Nancy Reed Bourgeois of Church Point. Her maternal grandparents are Harvey and Rita Hebert of Iota. Heidi’s paternal grandparents are Anthony and Connie Bourgeois of Church Point.
The prospective groom is the son of Dennis and Valerie Moody Hensgens of Crowley. His maternal grandparents are B.I. and Thelma Moody of Crowley. David’s paternal grandparents are the late Charles and Leola Hensgens Sr.
One hundred guests attended the event. The refreshment table centerpiece was a beautiful floral arrangement done in a melody of summer flowers. Family and friends of Heidi and David enjoyed sparkling citrus punch, basil chicken pasta salad, cucumber tea sandwiches, cheese straws, chicken salad sandwiches. Guests also enjoyed a cheese-pecan roll with pepper jelly, petit fours adorned with the bride’s initials and a delicious lemon layered cake.
Among those present for the event were several special guests including Heidi’s maternal grandmother, Rita Hebert; her paternal grandmother, Connie Bourgeois; the prospective groom’s maternal grandmother, Thelma Moody; and the great aunts of the bride-to-be, Terry Fann, Jackie Watson, Sadie Thevis and Mildred Boudreaux.
Other out of town guests registered from Lafayette, Winnsboro, Simsport, Church Point, Iota and Crowley.
The couple intends to state their wedding vows on the evening of October 1, 2011. The Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen will officiate the holy sacrament of marriage at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point.
