Broussard sworn in as tax assessor
The large courtroom on the second floor of the Courthouse was packed with friends, co-workers and family. They all came to watch Kathy Broussard be sworn-in as the new Vermilion Parish Tax Assessor on Wednesday.
15th Judicial Judge Durwood Conque swore in Broussard, who was elected to the position 14 months ago.
The staff of the tax assessor’s office also took an oath.
Her first day on the job was this past Monday.
Broussard thanked everyone for attending and she reminded the residents of Vermilion Parish that the tax assessor’s office is always open. She said if anyone has questions about their tax assessment, they should visit her office.
Broussard is no stranger to the tax assessor’s office. She has worked in the office for 31 years before deciding to run for the position held by Mike Langlinais, since 1991.
She is also the first female elected to the position in Vermilion Parish.
