Bulldogs compete in indoor track state events

Several Ville Platte Bulldogs competed at the indoor track meets at LSU in late February. A total of seven VPHS athletes showed their stuff at the LSU-based event.
One Bulldog, senior Ralensee Nelson, won the state title in the high jump and long jump. He jumped 22-10.5. In the long jump. In the high jump, Nelson was good for 6-04.00. He also placed fourth in the triple jump. His efforts helped his team place fifth overall with 24 points.
Also competing for the boys was Haywell Williams. The young man battled hard and took ninth in the high jump. Jordan Semien competed in the 1,600-meter run. He finished 11th overall.
The VPHS girls competed at the event and came out 21st. The 1,600-meter relay team of Denitra Attle, Meagan Moore, Breanna O’Conner and Dashea Arvie placed third with a time of 4:24.93. In the 55-meter run, Moore took the sixth spot. O’Conner competed in the high jump and came out 11th overall.
VPHS Head Coach Roy Serie was very proud of how hard his youngsters worked and how they competed at the event. The overall result was a credit to their hard work.
