CAA members gather for August meeting, featuring Imogene Dewey

The CAA gathered for its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, August 12 at noon and was given a presentation by the featured artist, Imogene Dewey.

While fielding a barrage of questions from what she called a very attentive crowd, Imogene painted what could be called one of the most beautiful swamp scenes to ever grace our city.

The public is always welcome to come to the monthly presentations and this painting was created in front of a packed house.

Using red, blue and yellow, the artist poured paint onto paper and then blew it around by different means to create trees and bushes along with reflections completed with a heron flying through.

Halfway through the presentation, the crowed gasped with excitement as dessert hostess, Becky Faulk, presented a beautiful creation straight out of the Crowley Art Association cookbook “Cooking with friends.”

A short business meeting was held, discussing donations for the upcoming Rice Festival raffle. Donations confirmed to date is an original butterfly painting by Robert Baxter. The CAA is still open to anyone wishing to make a donation for the raffle, in the way of sporting event tickets or any item that Acadiana would support. Please call the Gallery at 783-3747 for further information.

Also reviewed were the upcoming classes to be held at the Gallery including: Margaret Hulin, oils, from 9:30 a.m. until noon, Robert Baxter, multi media artist, teaching students in the medium of their choice, starting in September. Call for times and dates. All class costs are $10.
