Cajun fiddle classes to be offered in fall
EUNICE - Louisiana State University at Eunice will begin a new program of Tuesday night Cajun fiddle classes on Sept. 3.
Offered through LSUE’s Office of Continuing Education, the classes are open to the public, including adults as well as children under 18. They will be taught by well-known fiddler and music teacher Henry Hample, who performs often at the Liberty Theater in Eunice and Fred’s Lounge in Mamou.
Two separate classes, Beginning Cajun Fiddle and Intermediate Cajun Fiddle, will meet every Tuesday night from Sept. 3 through Nov. 19.
Beginning Cajun Fiddle will assume no prior experience, while Intermediate Cajun Fiddle will teach a solid repertoire of 12 popular two-steps and waltzes. The registration fee for either course is $100.
Pre-registration is required, and participants must bring their own fiddle. To register, call (337) 550-1390, or log on to www.lsue.edu/continuing.
