Camouflage theme tool-pantry party held

A camouflage theme tool and pantry party was held Saturday, March 6, 2010 in honor of Allison Elizabeth Milton and Blaine Joseph Cary.

The 7 p.m. social was held at the home of the bride-elect’s parents, Greg and Charlotte Milton of Crowley. Her grandparents are the late Norris Toups, the late Delores Toups, the late Harry Milton and the late Mary Jane Milton.

The prospective groom is the son of Blake and Alane Gary of Mire. His grandparents are Pierre and Geraldine Gary of Rayne, Marion Stelly of Carencro and Dorothy P. Stelly of Scott.

Serving as hostesses for the party were the couple’s parents, Brian and Janice Stelly, Roland and Lynn Credeur, Peter and Dianne Besse, Perry Stelly, Glenn and Lori Gary, Bubba and Donna Spaetgens.

Attire for the evening was camouflage and guests were served barbecue hamburgers, chips, seven-layer dip, Italian noodle salad, sour cream dip and vegetables, chocolate chip cookie cake, pecan bars, bon bons, and beverages.

The outside pool and patio area of the Milton home with its beautiful brick and cypress wood was the perfect setting for the camouflage themed party honoring Allison and Blaine. As guests entered the patio, a table of burlap fabric, a camouflage monogrammed guest book, and pictures of the couple hunting and fishing greeted the guests in attendance. It was soon apparent of Blaine’s love of the outdoors and hunting as the in-ground pool was filled with floating duck decoys and the lawn featured standing goose and dove decoys. Cabaret tables with candles and additional pictures of the couple and their friends on hunting and fishing trips were used as extra eating spaces. Fire pits were in use to keep guests warm on the chilly evening, while an old rustic pirogue was filled with adult beverages. Several tables under the patio area were decorated to represent other loves in Blaine’s life, his John Deer tractor, 4x4 pickup truck, and cooking. Marsh grass and cattail arrangements tied with raffia and a red metal fleur de lis hung on the large cypress posts under the patio.

Guests attended from Rayne, Crowley, Mire, Scott, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Gonzales, and Houston, Texas.

The couple will be married on Friday, June 18, 2010 during a wedding ceremony at St. Michael Catholic Church in Crowley with Fr, Gary Schexnayder officiating the 6:30 p.m. Nupial Mass. A reception will follow at Le Grand Hall in Crowley.
