Candlelight ceremony unites LeJeune, Thibodeaux
Julie Christine LeJeune and Francis Shawn Thibodeaux, both of Crowley were united in marriage during a 7 p.m. candlelit ceremony officiated by the bride’s father, Rod LeJeune on Saturday, December 12 at the Gueydan Civic Center.
Julie is the daughter of Rod and Kathy LeJeune of Baton Rouge. Her grandparents are Wallace “Gordy” LeJeune and Lillie LeJeune of Iota, and Jacob White and the late Julie B. White of Jennings.
She is a 2008 graduate of Iota High School, attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and is currently enrolled in the Nursing program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Francis is the son of Alvin and Kathy Thibodeaux of Egan. He is the grandson of Eula Sonnier and the late Obray Sonnier of Crowley, and the late Frank Thibodeaux and Ada Thibodeaux of Crowley.
He is a 2007 graduate of Iota High School, attended Louisiana State University of Baton Rouge, and has plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the spring.
Ushering guests down the candlelit aisle was Eddie Gettys, brother-in-law of the bride.
The altar was accentuated by a garland decorated arch amidst red decorations within.
The bride escorted by her parents, the bride was radiant in a vintage gown that featured a lace overlay and a sweetheart neckline. The ensemble was completed by a cranberry sash at the waist that flowed into simple train and a small tiara that held an elbow-length veil.
She carried a bouquet of deep red roses accented with ivory calla lilies.
Traditional items she incorporated into her special day included her grandmother’s pins as something old; her dress and shoes as something new; her tiara as something borrowed, and her garter as something blue.
Serving as matron of honor was Hannah L. Gettys, sister of the bride. Maid of honor was Tierney LeJeune, sister of the bride.
Serving as bridal attendants were Amber Thibodeaux, sister of the groom; Hanna Johnson, friend of the bride, and Addie Sonnier, cousin of the groom.
Junior bridesmaids attending were Hannah Lanclos, friend of the bride, and Payton Adams, friend of the groom.
Attendants were attired in floor-length gowns of cranberry apple of all different designs, some satin and others chiffon.
Each carried handheld bouquets of deep red roses and white calla lilies.
Attending as best man was Alvin Thibodeaux, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Sam Aguillard and Brandon Smith, friends of the groom; William LeJeune, brother of the bride, and Myles Sonnier, cousin of the groom.
Attending as flower girl was Haley Lanclos, friend of the bride, who was escorted by ring bearer Caden Gettys, nephew of the bride.
A reception immediately following was held at the same location. Accenting the reception area were rose centerpieces atop guest tables.
The bride’s cake was a white square three-tiered confection with brown ribbon bordering each tier. The top of the cake featured a bouquet of rose and calla lilies.
On the eve of the wedding, the parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner of sausage and seafood gumbo at their home.
