Carnival d'Acadie back in February

CROWLEY – Though Christmas season is upon us the City of Crowley is always preparing ahead.

Crowley Mayor Greg Jones has announced that the next Mardi Gras celebration or as better known in Crowley as Carnival d’Acadie will be held on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday - February 22, 23, and 24, 2009.

The festivities will kick off Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. with a carnival. Our live entertainment and street dance on the grounds of the Crowley Enterprise Center on Monday at 6:30 p.m. with entertainment by Krossfyre followed by Travis Matte and the Kingpins from 9:30 p.m. until 11 p.m. Tuesday afternoon festivities begin at 12:30 p.m. with entertainment by Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin Cajuns. The Mardi Gras parade will roll down Historic Downtown Parkerson Ave. at 3 p.m., followed by three best decorated float awards and costume contest for the most “original, outrageous, and creative” costumes. Entertainment continues with J. Paul & the Zydeco NuBreeds continues with entertainment from 4 p.m. til 7 p.m.

The city invites all who would like to participate in the Mardi Gras Parade to respond by Friday, February 13, 2009. Entry forms can be picked up at the Crowley City Hall and the Chamber of Commerce. Anyone in need of assistance should call City Hall at 783-0824 or the Chamber of Commerce at 788-0177.
