Ellen Alston Carter passed away Monday, October 27 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Franklinton. She served on the board for the Nellie Byers Training Center and retired from Sullivan Vocational Technical School in Bogalusa as a nursing instructor. After her retirement, she devoted much of her time to the Mile Branch Settlement in Franklinton.
Visitation and memorial services were held at Brown McGehee Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Alan Einsel. Graveside services followed at the Greensburg Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert T. Carter, Jr., their daughter, Elizabeth Carter Weill, their son, Clay A. Carter and wife, Barbara; three grandchildren, Clay Weill and wife Christine, Lee Carter and wife Kristy, and Thomas Carter; three great-grandchildren, Carter Weill, Avi Weill, and Gary Weill.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Wilma Vernon Alston; her son, Robert T. Carter III; two brothers, Jeff Alston and William Alston.
Pallbearers were her three grandsons and the sons of her brother, Jeff.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the caring staff of Riverside Medical Center, Egan Home Health and Heritage Manor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ESM Methodist Church, Bogalusa.
