Catholic Schools Week slated
A number of events and programs have been planned at Rayne Catholic Elementary for Catholic Schools Week of 2008-2009, “Catholic Schools Celebrate Service” including:
Monday, January 26: Catholic Schools Celebrate Service: In Our Community - Dress as your favorite service profession (Police Officer, firefighter, doctor, teacher, etc.); Class Door decorating Contest; 8 a.m. Prayer Service in Quad and proclamation by the mayor; 9 a.m. Harvey Rabbit for lower grades (PreK through 4th); Make posters and cards of thanks for those who serve the community everyday.
Tuesday, January 27: Catholic Schools Celebrate Service: In Our Students - Dress to Impress when students may wear their favorite outfit to express who they are; Religion Fair in Gym; Get up & Move Day (Songs are played during breaks between classes throughout the day and the kids get up and move); Highlight the artwork of the students in the lobby windows; Student prizes by drawings after prayer each hour; 8th Grade students will attend the Pro-Life Rally at Notre Dame; 2:30 Snack Party for entire school in quad; No Homework Day!
Wednesday, January 28: Catholic Schools Celebrate Service: In Our Nation - Dress patriotic in red, white and blue with jeans; Catholic Schools Week Mass at 8:20 a.m. at St. Joseph Church with all godparents invited to attend with their Godchild; Godparents will be invited under the oak trees (or gym) for refreshments and to visit; Student of the Year presentation after Mass; 2:15 p.m. fun and games for students.
Thursday, January 29: Catholic Schools Celebrate Service: In Our Vocation - RCE Uniform or coordinating with class performance; Grandparent’s Day begins in church at 8:30 a.m., give speeches, and presentations by the students; Grandparents to school, meet their grandchildren, have refreshments in classrooms; 1:30 p.m. upper grades basketball game against priests; 6 p.m. OPEN HOUSE.
Friday, January 30: Catholic Schools Celebrate Service: In our Faculty, Staff, and Volunteers - Dress green spirit shirt and jeans; treat parents to a biscuit and juice in the morning car line “We Appreciate Our Parents”; Teacher Luncheon; 1:10 p.m. parade to Depot Square (cheerleaders lead songs/chants); 1:30 p.m. Faith Rally with Kelly Pease at Depot Square; Treat parents to a candy bar in the afternoon car line.
