Celebrate 60th Wedding Anniversary
A 60th wedding anniversary party was held Friday, Aug. 6, 2010 at The Crossing at Mervine Kahn in honor of Alma and Howard DeRouen, Jr. of Rayne.
Mr. and Mrs. DeRouen are the proud parents of four children, Eurella DeRouen Cahanin (spouse Keith Cahanin), Bertha DeRouen Besse (spouse Fred Besse), Howard J. DeRouen III (spouse Tina Dansdill DeRouen), and Dee James DeRouen (spouse Tina Bordelon DeRouen), along with 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The honorees were greeted during the 7 p.m. special event by approximately 200 guests, who were entertained with cocktails, dinner, entertainment, and pictures of the couple from all six decades.
Entertainment for the night was provided by Nickel Beer, as well as a “friend and family” six-decade dance for the honorees. Songs that for the performance ranged from Elvis’ “Love me Tender” to MC Hammer’s "Can’t Touch This” performed by Howard DeRouen, III.
Guests were also treated to a traditional wedding cake (pineapple cream, and lemon Bavarian), as well as a chocolate decadent groom’s cake.
For the special occasion, Mrs. DeRouen wore a two-piece, champagne-tone skirt suit, while her groom was handsome in a traditional black tuxedo.
Howard and Alma, who live in Rayne surrounded by family and friends, was honored as their 60th anniversary was blessed earlier in the year on “Super Bowl Sunday” in Abbeville.
