Chamber officers elected

The Rayne Chamber of Commerce met Wednesday, April 1, for their monthly meeting at the Chamber office. Hosting the meeting were Jared Lawless, CPA, and Best Western Rayne Inn, Pesh Patel.
The newly elected Board was welcomed, including Angie Broussard, Pesh Patel, Lisa Soileaux, Nikki Link, Larry Habetz, Cheryl McCarty, Paul Dupont and Kevin Prejean.
Elected during the meeting to serve as officers for the coming year were president Angie Broussard, vice president Cheryl McCarty, secretary Lisa Soileaux, treasurer Nikki Link, member at large Larry Habetz.
Announcement was made of the upcoming 2009 Chamber Banquet slated for May 5, at Chef Roy’s in Rayne. Tickets can be purchased at the Chamber office for $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
A reminder was also given in reference to the Business Person of the Year and the Employee of the Year.
A Frog Festival update was given, along with a reminder of the Mobile Classroom slated May 26-27, 2009.
Discussion was also held concerning a possible Chamber Mardi Gras Krewe for 2010 to include a ball and parade.
Business After Hours will be held at the Chamber Office on April 30, hosted by Kevin “Sweet P” Prejean.
Also welcomed during the meeting was the new office manager, Miles Boudreaux, who is filling in for Chamber Director Jan Cormier, who is out ill.
A Legislative Breakfast will be held April 14 by the Crowley Chamber, with all members invited.
