CHATAIGNIER - The Chataignier Village Council discussed repairs needed to the post office building and a new copy machine for the village during its meeting Monday, November 17.

Village Clerk Wilbur Rozas said he received a report form the post office regarding electrical outlets that might not be functioning correctly. He said the post office computer shuts down on occasion and some other outlets work one day but not the next. The council agreed to have someone review the problems.

Rozas also said the copy machine currently used by the village, but owned by the water district, had broken. Rozas suggested it was the village’s turn to purchase a new copy machine. The council agreed to allow Rozas to get prices for a new machine.

In other business, the council:

•Heard from Rozas regarding a donation from the Evangeline Parish Tourism Commission for the village’s Christmas parade. Rozas said the recent incident at the chamber of commerce, involving the embezzlement of funds, also affected the tourism commission, as some of its funds were taken as well. Rozas added he had not spoken to anyone with tourism, but their annual donation of $200 for the parade was a question. Rozas said he would notify the council when he finds out if the donation will still be made.
